The Time of Politics (Zamanin Siyasa)
Published in Hardcover by International Scholars Publications (01 August, 1998)
Author: Jonathan T. Reynolds
Average review score:

An excellent analysis
Far too much history today is mired in ideological or methodological disputation. Here is a book that proves it is still possible to do first class work in spite of it all. Well-written, insightful, and analytical. One hopes for more work like it from this author.

Toddler Story Book: Silly Goose and Dizzy Duck Play Hide and Seek
Published in Hardcover by Dk Pub Merchandise (October, 1999)
Authors: Sally Grindley, Adrian Reynolds, and Adrian Renyolds
Average review score:

VERY silly friends! VERY cute, silly friends!
Silly Goose & Dizzy Duck are very good friends (one is put in mind of Ernie & Bert of Sesame St. fame or Toot & Puddle by Hobbie). They are, however, not the brightest bulbs in the waterfowl chandelier, and so when they take a walk and find Clever Fox following them, they automatically assume he wants to play hide & seek.

This leads to some absolutely hysterical situations as Duck and Goose try to hide while Fox (with a wide grin and pointy teeth) counts to five. Goose tries a hollow log, but is too fat. Meanwhile, Duck tries to climb a tree, but realizes he's afraid of heights. A holly bush proves to be too prickly and the river too cold. In final desperation, Goose & Duck hide in a pile of leaves and behind a pile of rocks.

Children of all ages will undoubtedly find these preposterous hiding places very funny, especially as Clever fox--tongue licking his lips--zeros in on duck's hiding spot, prominently exposed by Duck's elevated, feathered rump as he attempts to hide amongst a pile of rocks much smaller than he.

When Fox has Duck in a gentle throttle (Duck is smiling, but his tongue is sticking out of his orange bill), he turns to find that a new player has joined the game, Grizzly BEAR! "BOOOO! Boomed Grizzly Bear." And that, as they say, is that! Fox runs off, arms akimbo, leaving Goose and Duck to be a bit miffed at Bear who "'frightened our friend', grumbled Silly Goose. 'And spoiled our game,' said Dizzy Duck. 'You'll have to play instead.'"

Ms. Grindley & Mr. Reynolds have produced a masterpiece of the very sort of slapstick that young children thrive on. The clear, uncluttered illustrations of wide-eyed waterfowl searching for hiding places against the clock made me laugh right out loud. The text is bold, big and easy to read. In addition, the text is arranged graphically in such a way that the very words add to the story. "Booo! " for example, consisting of systematically smaller italicized type and "leaped into the air" being bent up and down in a semicircle to illustrate movement will not only guide parents/caregivers on how to read the story, but will encourage children to pay more attention to the text itself than they might otherwise do if the text sat on the page in a more static manner.

A Must for your Bathroom Library
Bathroom humor at it's very finest. This hilarious compilation of toilet-related one-paneled cartoons will make an excellent addition to anyone's bathroom library. What's that? No reading material in your bathroom? Then the only thing to do is to order Dan Reynolds' book today, and learn to enjoy every future bowel movement to its fullest. (It's also funny if you chose to read it outside of the bathroom.)

Towards Gettysburg: A Biography of General John F. Reynolds
Published in Hardcover by Butternut Pr (December, 1988)
Author: Edward J. Nichols
Average review score:

Carefully researched and entertaining biography.
Nichols has presented a well researched biography of a man who commanded the respect and the admiration of an army. The men who fought under him called him "Old Common Sense." They were willing to follow him into Hell itself, and they did. John F. Reynolds was professionally remote, militarily a genius, and personally a shy quiet man. Nichols brings Reynolds to warm life once again in this entertaining and well written biography. You will feel as if you know this general who turned down command of the entire Army of the Potomac, only to die a month later leading a regiment into combat because "that's where he was most needed." You will stand beside the Confederate prisoners of war who rose to their feet in silent respect as the dead Reynolds was carried past them. An inspiring picture of a man whose death made an army pause to weep.

Traditional Healers and Childhood in Zimbabwe
Published in Hardcover by Ohio Univ Pr (Txt) (November, 1995)
Author: Pamela Reynolds
Average review score:

Good
Reynolds is my medical anthropology professor at UC Berkeley. The book, like Reynolds, is engaging and interesting. Reynolds is compassionate and very intelligent. These qualities are clearly evident in her book. It is a wonderful resource for both laymen and anthropologists, for anybody interested in healing systems outside of the Western tradition. Read the book.

One of the few great western artists...the best.
I have recently viewed and read the newest book by James Reynolds. There are just a few of the great western artists painting today with the attention given to the detail of that period. Great book Mr. Reynolds. I've always been a fan of yours...and enjoy reading, looking, and re-reading and re-looking at your art. Thanks...Norman D. Catlett

Treasury of Year-Round Preschool Activities
Published in Paperback by Teacher Created Materials (01 November, 1999)
Author: Deanna Reynolds
Average review score:

A Very Good Book!
Though geared for classroom use, it still could be adapted for the homeschool environment. It starts with 2 sample daily schedules that you could use as a guide. Then it actually gives you a calendar for the whole year, unlike most books that don't give a schedule for summer. Each week in the month is assigned a theme with suggested letters and numbers to cover. Then each week is further divided into days that are assigned activities you could stretch further by using the sample daily schedule (given in the beginning of the book). To top it all, it gives reproducibles and suggestions when to use these reproducible crafts during the week. It also specifies their page numbers. If you are a non-proffessional like me, these book will work like a charm! No wasting time waiting for your children to sleep before surfing the internet for crafts.
